Working with preschool age children is truly rewarding. I have always known that I wanted to be a teacher of young children. I so enjoy the way their eyes light up when they learn something new and the enthusiasm that they have for life and discovering new things. This is my 7th year teaching at Bright Stars and I love it! Before teaching preschool I spent 11 years teaching for the Calgary Board of Education, mainly in a Kindergarten classroom. I also have 2 amazing children, ages 11 and 15. I am so excited to be back at Bright Stars this year! I am looking forward to getting to know you and your children. I truly feel that the parents and students at Bright Stars are an extension of my own family. It is a pleasure to be part of your child’s first educational experience. Miss Sheri What a thrill for me to work with the amazing team of teachers at Bright Stars Preschool and get to know the all of the children enrolled. My passion for teaching and love of working with young children grows as I spend each day with the children learning, laughing and playing. It is rewarding for me to watch these young people develop and grow through providing exciting learning opportunities and fun socialization times. I am married to a wonderful man, Brian, and have three children - ages 18, 15 and 12. I received my Bachelor of Education in Calgary, and have taught special education, as well as early elementary grades for the CBE for 7 years. I have had the pleasure of working with the Bright Stars staff since 2011 and love my job here! I enjoy sports, camping, music and above all, spending time with my family and loved ones! I am honoured to be a part of your children’s beginning school experiences. Miss Lisa I am so excited to be joining Bright Stars as a teacher this year! This will be my fifth year as a parent at Bright Stars. Both my children and I love the program and the teachers. I have a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology and Bachelor of Education both from the University of Calgary. I have taught grades 1,2 and 5 with the Calgary Catholic School District before deciding to stay home with my children. I am blessed with four children aged 11, 8, 5 and 3. As a family we love to hike, camp and travel, making memories and having adventures. I’m so excited to be returning to teaching this year as working with young children really is my passion. I look forward to getting to know you and the children at Bright Stars! MAHOGANYMiss WendyI am filled with joy to be a part of the Bright Stars family! I have always loved learning and would play teacher with my younger sister growing up. Born and raised in Calgary, I received my BEd at U of C (French major and ESL minor). Through the years, I have taught in many capacities: from leading fitness classes to teaching high school english as a second language, from teaching dancing for birth classes to tutoring preschool french immersion, discovering my passion for preschool education since 2013. Fortunate to experience different preschools in Calgary, including Bright Stars in Copperfield 2014/2015, I am thrilled to return to the new Mahogany location for another year of teaching! When not teaching, my husband Alexis and our four boys (now young men!): Xavier 18, Zennen 15, Taléo 13, and Azaro 10, adventure together on beautiful nature hikes, playing board games, listening to spanish music and watching French movies. I am also passionate about dancing, learning to play the harp, reading, and meditating. In the class, I love co-creating fun, positive and nurturing learning experiences with each child and building relationships with their families. I feel inspired by each one and look forward to welcoming all of you this coming year! Miss Angela I am excited to join the Bright Stars Preschool teaching team! I am a mother of 2 boys who are 9 and 6 years old! My oldest son attended Bright Stars preschool in his early years and this preschool has always held a special place in my heart! We are a family who loves to travel and visit different places throughout the world! We are always on the look-out for our next family adventure! We spend most of the winter at the hockey rink since both boys play hockey and in the summer we love to go camping, swimming and biking. I graduated from the University of Lethbridge with my Bachelor of Education and Arts degree. I taught grade 1 for 5 years, preschool for 4 years and this past school year I taught a grade 2/3 spilt class. I love teaching all age levels and abilities but preschool is by far my favorite! I am passionate about teaching early literacy and I love the Jolly phonics program! I am looking forward to getting to know our families and watching our students learn and growth throughout the school year!
